Eligibility Criteria for Bihar Police SI
The qualification for this post is simple and open to all graduates, unlike many other technical posts, which makes it accessible for a wide range of candidates.
Educational Qualification
A candidate must have passed a Bachelor's degree or equivalent examination from any recognised university as on 01 August 2025. No specific subject or stream is required for this post.
Age Limit (as on 01 August 2025)
- Unreserved Male: 20 to 37 years
- Unreserved Female: 20 to 40 years
- BC & EBC (Male & Female): 20 to 40 years
- SC & ST (Male & Female): 20 to 42 years
- Government servants (Bihar) get 5 years relaxation (maximum)

Selection Process Explained
The selection procedure has four main stages, and candidates need to clear each one in sequence to reach the final merit list.

Preliminary Exam Pattern

Each correct answer gets 2 marks, and candidates scoring less than 30 percent will not be considered for the Main Exam. Candidates up to 10 times the number of vacancies, category wise, will be shortlisted for the Main Exam.

Negative marking of 0.25 marks applies for each wrong answer in Paper 1, and candidates need at least 30 percent marks in each paper to qualify. Candidates up to 3 times the number of vacancies, category wise, will move ahead to the Physical Efficiency Test based on the final merit from the Main Exam.
Salary and Pay Structure
Selected candidates will get Level-6 pay scale under the 7th Pay Commission, along with other allowances as per Bihar government rules. This is the same pay level given to other Bihar Sub-Inspector posts.

- Register using a valid, active mobile number and email ID in your own name
- Complete Part 1: enter name, nationality, mobile number, email ID, domicile, category, gender, and date of birth, then pay the fee
- Receive Registration ID and Password via SMS/Email, then log in to fill Part 2 with father/husband's name, mother's name, address, and educational qualification
- Upload a recent colour photograph and signature in English and Hindi as per the specified format and size
- Review all details carefully, since no changes are allowed after final submission
- Pay the application fee of Rs. 100 online and print the acknowledgement for future reference

Important Points to Remember
- Only one online application per candidate is allowed, multiple applications will be rejected
- 35 percent horizontal reservation is applicable for women domiciled in Bihar
- 2 percent horizontal reservation applies for grandchildren of freedom fighters
- Candidates from other states are treated as unreserved category and do not get reservation benefits
- Stammering or stuttering during medical examination will lead to disqualification
- The entire selection process may take approximately 6 months, and no extension is granted for personal or medical reasons
